MEN'S HEALTH - PROSTATE HEALTH

The prostate is a small organ about found below the bladder; it surrounds the tube carrying urine from the bladder. The prostate gland helps in making a fluid which is converted to become part of semen in the male body. Prostrate problems in men are common, especially for those who have crossed the age group of 50; however it is often not recognized till the problem is more aggravated.

Changes in urinary flow or frequency may indicate a problem with the prostate gland. Enlargement, inflammation, or cancers of the prostate can impede urinary output. With growing age, prostate problems in men sometimes become more serious. The prostate gland gradually enlarges, and creates pressure on the outflow tube, this results in a slower rate of urine passing. This in turn has the affect of more frequent visits to the toilet, even at night.

Prostate problems in men are of different types, acute prostititis, chronic prostititis, and benign prostate hypertrophy (BPH). Though some of the prostate problems in men can be harmless, there are other conditions like prostate cancer that can be dangerous.

Treatments vary but prostate problems can often be treated without affecting sexual function.
Symptoms of Prostate Problems are;

A diet which is high in fat and dairy products without the inclusion of fruits and vegetables can increase the risk of having prostate problems in men. Eating tomato and related products, like tomato soup, has been observed to have better affects and lead to reduction of prostate problems in men.

Our Integrative Approach
Good dietary measures apart from a regulated lifestyle devoid of alcohol and tobacco are major influences in reducing prostate problems.  Avoiding sugar, fats, red meat and an excess of dairy products can help in reducing men’s prostate problems.  Certain supplements such as saw palmetto and pumpkin seeds will help in reducing prostate problems, without the rigor of surgery and the potential side effects of drugs. Prescription medications may also provide relief.
