Healing with Heat

Here at the Center for Natural and Integrative Medicine, we strive to provide our patients with the most cutting-edge therapies to aid them on their pathway to Health, Hope and Healing.  To that end, we are very proud to announce that we now offer a new treatment modality called the I-Wave.

To those of you who are familiar with our office, the I-Wave is the true spiritual successor to the previous generation the I-Therm.  I-Wave is a machine for localized hyperthermia or heat therapy.  In many studies, localized hyperthermia has been shown to be a supportive treatment for prostate conditions, muscle injuries, tendinopathy, tumors, back pain, sports injuries and much more!

The I-Wave provides hyperthermia to the area of concern which is thought to increase oxygen and nutrient delivery to that area of the cell.  It has also been seen that hyperthermia can help produce Heat Shock Proteins, as well as enhance apoptosis (programmed cell death) to help restore the body back to a state of balance.

Treatments with the I-Wave are non-invasive and very comfortable.  They consist of a small pad applied to the affected area that directs heat to the directed tissues.  Usual treatment times last anywhere from 20-60 minutes.  Many patients with pain notice a significant reduction in pain after the very first treatment!  For other conditions, patients may need a series of treatments over a month, or follow up treatments every 3-6 months.  Like any medication, supplement, treatment or a surgery I-Wave does not work for everyone.

To see if you are a candidate or to see if I-Wave could be a treatment for you, contact our office.  Here at the Center for Natural and Integrative Medicine, we look forward to being your bridge to Health, Hope, and Healing!
