What Is Adrenal Fatigue, and What Can Be Done About It?

Do you frequently feel tired and out of sorts? Have you recently begun to feel that your age is showing in slowed movements? Are you becoming easily tired and not being able to keep up like you used to? It might not be age catching up to you. It might be adrenal fatigue. Thankfully, adrenal fatigue can be easily treated in our practice.

What Is Adrenal Fatigue?

The hormones that the body needs to live are produced in the adrenal glands. When the adrenal glands are no longer working correctly, hormone production can greatly decrease. A decrease in hormones can lead to a number of symptoms, including but not limited to:

  • Tiredness
  • Insomnia and/or trouble waking up in the morning
  • Craving salt and/or sugar
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Nonspecific digestive problems

If you have any of these symptoms, simple testing can determine if the hormones in your body have decreased or become out of balance, leading to a diagnosis of adrenal fatigue.

Treatment of Adrenal Fatigue

The adrenal glands can be stimulated to produce the right amount of hormones after adrenal fatigue by supporting the body with the right nutrients, vitamins and minerals. Glandulars may be used and many times symptoms are improved with using bio-identical hormone replacement therapy. Bioidentical hormones are those derived from plants and animals, but they are chemically the same as the hormones produced by the body. The treatment is designed to be specific to address your needs and the hormones that have decreased.

Bioidentical hormones can be administered in a number of ways. In our practice we prescribe oral, transdermal and intramuscular injections.

If you are experiencing signs of adrenal fatigue, contact us today for more information or to schedule an appointment for an exam and diagnosis.
